The All-Time Pantheon of Current and Future Holy Ghosts

"I believe in all religions." -- John Coltrane

Jesus, the son, died and became
part of the Holy Ghost,
which we are also part of.
And then there's the Cowgod...

Pietà (1520s), un painting de Moretto da Brescia

The Dalai Lama, in all of his twelve or so incarnations, has been one of our close connections to this Holy Ghost.

The current Dalai Lama . . . is it the thirteenth? "The one that knows the Beastie Boys."

The Pope as well, though more literally than spiritually, for me anyway.

Name this Pope!

St. Peter, St. Peter, did you come before or after the Pumpkin Eater?

I doubt anyone can name this Pope, so we won't even have a contest, I'll just tell you: it's the very first Pope, St. Peter!. A Holy Ghost for sure. Why, he even looks a bit like Jesus Christ himself!

Chris Heine of New York City nee Bow Valley, Nebraska

Okay, this is Holy Ghost, the band, referred
to in the link that brought us here. More specifically,
this is Chris Heine, lead singer of the Holy Ghost,
performing in his previous band, Opium Taylor. Photo by Ian Whitmore. Rock on, holy ghostlings.

And if we're including rock'n'roll ghosts, gotta mention Iggy Pop, just 'cause he's got so damn much soul. (And, like the Dalai Lama, that current Pope, and Chris Heine, he's also still alive)

I'm the runaway son... ...of the nuclear A-bomb.

Unlike all other H.G.'s mentioned, MLK was assassinated by a stool pigeon acting for the U.S. government.

Of course here's Martin Luther King, standing in front
of a portrait of another H.G., Mahatma Gandhi.

Here's Mother Teresa:

Though I don't really know exactly what Mother Teresa did, besides exude this sort of general saintliness...

And here's award-winning actress Julianne Moore...

Short Cuts, Safe, Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski, Psycho, Cookie's Fortune, to name a few. Nine Months with Hugh Grant, but I don't wanna talk about it...

What could I have possibly done to end up in jail?...and Karen Horning...
...and Patti Smith!

up, up, upupupup, I'm goin' up, up . . .
